Status: Contract, Candidate must comply with Oregon Independent Contractor Statute ORS 670.600
Salary range: 10K – 12K, Dependent on Experience and Expertise in Coordinating Events
Location: Open/ work from current location

Duration: Starts September 2010 -February 2011

Overview: 

In partnership with the Organically Grown Company, Food Trade Sustainable Leadership Association and Organic Seed Alliance, Oregon Tilth coordinates and holds the Organicology Conference in February of 2011.  For details about the conference visit www.organicology.org.  As partnering organizations, each company carries out different responsibilities and tasks in coordinating this 3 day event.  The Conference Coordinator would be in charge of managing the details of the entire event and holding the big picture while bringing their experience and expertise to the event to continue to improve on past success.

Purpose: 

The conference coordinator is in charge of managing the many details involved in the planning and implementation of the biennial Organicology conference.  This person serves as the primary coordinator interacting with hotel staff on site, and partner organizations’ staff who will carry out planning and implementation of various project areas.

Candidate attributes: 

Ideal candidates will possess strong knowledge, experience and skills related to event planning. A fundamental understanding of organic and sustainable food systems is highly desired.  The position will require good coordination, outreach/marketing, communication and teamwork skills.  The individual will essentially serve as the lead in the conference planning so the ability to work as a member of a team with the organizing committee is a must.
