Oregon: EMO seeks Congregational Wellness Project Coordinator
26 AugPURPOSE: To work with and continue to grow a coalition of faith communities and community partners aimed at preventing childhood obesity and obesity-related health conditions through changes to the congregational environment (policies and guidelines promoting healthy eating and physical activity, building and land use, and fostering leadership and a culture of wellness). The Corvallis-area Interfaith Wellness Coalition will also work on community-level and policy advocacy, sometimes in conjunction with the Portland Interfaith Wellness Coalition.
This position will complete a pilot project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation called “Faith-based Advocacy: Galvanizing Communities to End Childhood Obesity” and promote the use of the Congregational Health Index (CHI) assessment tool and planning guide, primarily to Latino congregations in Linn, Marion, and Benton Counties. It will involve similar work under another grant. The project is being undertaken by Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s (EMO’s) Interfaith Food and Farms
