Our WSDA Farm-to-School Program is seeking an extraordinary individual to work with us to implement two exciting projects to build farm-to-institution models—
· An 18-month start-up farm-to-school program in a larger school district (including building assessment tools and staff training).
· A one year project to support for senior meal programs and child care programs to incorporate more local, seasonal food into their menus.
These projects are part of the 2010 Communities Putting Prevention to Work HEAL (Healthy Eating/Active Living) projects in King County. We are in the final stages of contracting with Kent School District and the Seattle Office of Disability and Aging Services to commit to completing this work.
Both projects start in October 2010. These project provide a great opportunity to create tools, materials, training modules and information to support farm-to-institution efforts around the state.
The candidate in the new position will work on both projects, with approximately 32 hours/week in the first year, and 20 hours/week in the last 6 months of the grant period (ending March 2012). Work will be based in Seattle, with frequent travel to Kent and other parts of South King County.
The job posting closes on October 8th.
