DoBlenheim Hill Farm is seeking a Farm Manager to take charge of the overall planning, implementation, organization, and management of its farming activities. The individual must be “hands-on” and proficient in critical tasks involved with setting up a new farm –  clearing land, building infrastructure such as greenhouses, sheds and fences, as well as livestock and produce production.  In addition to being hands-on, the individual needs to be skilled in strategic planning (both short-term and long-term), staffing, and financial management as described below. Overview

TFM is a 501c (4) nonprofit organization operating three farmers markets in the Tacoma metropolitan area. The staff at TFM includes a full time Executive Director and Market Operations Manager and several seasonal employees. The Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager. This is a part time, seasonal nonexempt position.

Position Summary

The primary role of the Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator (OVC) is to build and maintain relationships within TFM market communities. Responsibilities include coordinating market volunteers, special events, market tastings and fostering community participation and awareness about the markets. The OVC oversees and coordinates the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of volunteer workers. Ensures that the activities of the volunteer workers meet the needs of the Tacoma Farmers Markets by guiding them in market set up, break down and other operational functions on market day. They also perform oversight of customer counts being taken at each hour at all markets. The OVC conducts store room inventory and organization regularly.

Position Qualifications

This position requires someone with strong interpersonal and customer service skills, an outgoing personality, an ability to work under time pressures, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to think on their feet. Organizational skills are critical. Knowledge of market communities useful but not required. Computer literacy in Word, Outlook and Excel a must.

Boistfort Valley Farm is an established 50 acre organic farm located SW of Chehalis, Washington, growing a wide variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers. We serve the area through sales at Farmers Markets, a 600 member CSA, direct sales to local stores and restaurants and wholesale. We have 25 seasonal employees.

Position Type: Full Time/Seasonal (reduced winter hours January-March)

Position Summary:

The Production Manager oversees daily harvest and packing of produce and ensures that all produce is of high quality and is efficiently harvested, processed, and packaged for delivery.  S/he is expected to take a leadership role in developing systems and structures to maximize safety, productivity, and efficiency. S/he will act as the liaison between the CSA Director, Field Boss, and the packing shed. This position will provide daily on the ground support and supervision for the pack crew and field crew. Our rapidly growing Appalachian charcuterie project, Woodlands Pork, is looking for a Farm Manager to run daily operations at our primary breeding facility, Black Oak Holler Farm. This is an opportunity to work closely with Dr. Chuck Talbott (widely regarded as the father of pastured pork on the E. coast), the agricultural director of what has been described by Chef David Varley as ‘the best artisanal product in America’. Woodlands Pork is committed to developing an American ham with an unique character that represents our Appalachian terroir. New York State: Hawthorne Valley Farm Camp seeks Assistant Director

Field Camp Assistant Director is responsible for organizing and running all the operations of the field camp along with the Field Camp Director.  This position creates daily and weekly schedule of activities and off-site outings/events for camp. The Assistant Director is responsible for the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of 15 campers and 4 other counselors. Strong leadership, supervising and communication skills are required. Qualifications include, experience working with teenagers in an outdoor setting (camp and farm), working as a team player, while being an effective supervisor, and being able to address and resolve difficult issues (behavioral/sleeping habits/illness) of campers and staff. Often, the Assistant Director will need to talk with parents of the campers in order to resolve some issues. Camping and hiking skills are also required for this position.
