Washington State: WA Sustainable Food and Farming Network seeks Development Associate

Location: Mount Vernon, Washington

The Development Associate will provide support for the Network’s fundraising and outreach programs.  With the board, volunteers, and other staff, this person will work to expand the organization’s membership and increase revenue. We are seeking a self-motivated, highly organized, and creative Development Associate.  This is a part-time (up to 40 hrs/mo) contracted position.

Primary Responsibilities

Major donor program enhancement (approx. 50%)

  • Provide support to the ED and Board to ensure all major donors are solicited
  • Ensure that major donor cultivation letters and correspondence are sent
  • Identify new major donor prospects
  • Identify opportunities to involve donors in work of the organization

Grant and Foundation Research (approx. 30%)

  • Collaborate with ED to research and submit grant applications
  • Support grant management, includes tracking of reporting requirements.

New and Existing Member Recruitment and Outreach (approx. 20%)

  • Work with ED, Board and staff to expand membership
  • Provide support for 3-4 house parties/year around the state
  • Coordinate Seattle membership Event – Fall
  • Coordinate annual membership renewal phonebank

Minimum Qualifications

·        Minimum 2 years experience with face-to-face fundraising

·        Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising

·        Bachelor’s degree in non-profit administration, business, communications, or other relevant degree is required.

·        Ability to work independently

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Organized and diligent record-keeping and administrative skill

·        Talented with Word, Excel and databases, experience with Ebase preferred

·        Highly motivated, energetic and tenacious, with great attention to detail.

·        Goal oriented, personable, and fearless in fundraising

·        Some evening and weekend work and some statewide travel required. Valid, insurable drivers license/record.

·        Requires regular travel to Mount Vernon WA.

Salary Range: This is a 40 hour/month contracted position paying $20-25/hour.
