Pennsylvania: Blooming Glen Farm seeks Three Interns

15 Nov

Blooming Glen Farm is seeking three full time, full season interns from April 1st to November 15th for 2011. We are a diverse organic vegetable farm marketing to a 275 member CSA (all on farm pick-up), three weekly farmers markets, and wholesale and to local restaurants. We grow a large variety of field crops and devote the bulk of the space in our greenhouses to intense tomato and heirloom tomato production. We are located in Perkasie, PA, in scenic Upper Bucks County, an hour from downtown Philadelphia. We are entering our sixth season as Blooming Glen Farm, however farmers Tom and Tricia bring 11 years of diverse experience to the farm, and still vividly remember what it was like to be interns ourselves.

We are a young ambitious farm looking for enthusiastic hard workers with a sincere interest in sustainable and organic agriculture. You will be an integral part of our team, and gain hands on experience in all aspects of the farm from seed to harvest. You will walk away from Blooming Glen Farm with the knowledge of whether farming is the life for you, and well on your way to acquiring the skills needed to start your own farm.

In addition to the hands-on education, the following forms of compensation are offered: We provide a monthly stipend of $1000 and housing in a beautifully restored farmhouse with all utilites included, as well as all the delicious veggies you can eat!

Please see our website at www.bloomingglenfarm.com for a detailed description of the internship, as well as an application. It is very important to us that we find a good match between our farm and our interns, therefore an on-farm visit is required.
