DC: National Immigrant Farmer Initiative seeks Project Associate

Rooted in diverse immigrant farmer experience, the National Immigrant Farmer Initiative (NIFI) has a mission to “strengthen the capacity of immigrants to farm successfully and to advance sustainable farming and food systems.”  NIFI seeks a responsible Project Associate to work on outreach and training initiatives that strengthen the capacity of organizations serving immigrant and refugee farmers.

Based at our Washington, D.C. office, this full time staff member will coordinate outreach and educational activities with NIFI members. He/she will conduct site visits to member organizations with active projects, including delivering training programs for member organizations and the farmers they serve. He/she will provide technical assistance to members on curriculum development and strategic planning and development. There will be opportunities to learn about minority farmers in the US and to interact with people from many different cultures.

Qualifications include being part of or experience working with foreign cultures and diverse communities, familiarity with agriculture production, marketing, and policy in U.S., Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, and three to five experience directly related to the position responsibilities. Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are important. Availability to travel nationally is a requirement.

Salary range $45,000 – $55,000, compensation for the position will be negotiated commensurate with experience.
