Washington State: SpringRain Farm and Orchard seeks Interns

13 Jan

SpringRain Farm & Orchard is a certified organic farm located in Chimacum, Washington. We grow a wide assortment of berry crops including blueberries, raspberries, currants, gooseberries, boysenberries, blackberries, and strawberries. We also raise poultry for eggs and meat, asparagus, Katahdin sheep, a large orchard of apples and pears, and honey bees.

We are founding members of the Jefferson County FIELD Internship Program in sustainable agriculture. Interns will have an opportunity to learn how to operate a small-scale diversified organic fruit farm during a 9 month stay from approximately March to November. A minimum stay of 3 months is required. While each intern is located on a home host farm, they attend learning sessions facilitated by 15 different farmers and community members.  This provides a diversified educational experience.

All interns have access to food from the farm, a weekly grocery card, and shared housing with kitchen, laundry, and bathroom is provided. This is not an employment opportunity; instead interns learn a wide range of skills and knowledge through engaging in the day-to-day activities of the farm alongside the farmer and formal educational and social activities through FIELD.
