This position provides program needs assessment, development, delivery, evaluation, and coordination associated with Central New York food systems. This position will study the local food environment consisting of the totality of stores, markets, community and individual gardens, etc. utilized to supply food to residents, and will analyze purchasing habits and opportunities and barriers to accessing healthy foods. The position is funded in part by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture and requires close integration of efforts with faculty, staff, local food system participants, and volunteers. The position holder is responsible both for delivering educational programs and for coordinating staff work on food systems and related projects; seeking grant support to expand the Association’s food systems work; collaborating with other senior staff to seek resources for 4-H youth development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines; and, coordinating interns and volunteers to extend the food systems work of the Association.
