Massachusetts: South Boston Grows seeks Urban Farm Intern

Qualifications: The candidate will be responsible for much of the maintenance and oversight of the 2 urban gardens (approx 3000 sf each) that South Boston Grows will be in charge of during the 2011 growing season. Both gardens are located within a short walking distance of the red line.

Experience: The candidate must have a Strong Experience with Vegetable and Community Gardening, Water Conservation, Garden and Nutrition Education, Youth Programming and Development, and Urban Neighborhoods.

Responsibilities: The candidate will be in charge of the care and maintenance of 2 educational, urban community gardens and will have a great deal of interaction with a diverse group of residents in the community. He/She will be responsible for some youth and community program supervision so a background with community organizing and youth programming is required. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in farm and/or garden based education.

Time Commitment: The candidate needs to be available from 4/17/11 through Thanksgiving 2011 Monday-Friday and some Weekends. The spring hours are 2-5 pm and the summer hours (starting 7/5/11) will include 2-4 mornings but the schedule is still TBD. The ideal candidate would have some flexibility to choose summer hours. Compensation: A stipend and/or class credit will be available to the candidate.
