Vermont: Earth Sky Time Community Farm seeks Interns

17 Feb
We are a community based year-round certified organic small farm located in Southwestern Vermont. We grow vegetables, flowers and herbs, and keep laying hens and honey bees. In the winter we harvest cold hardy greens from 4 unheated greenhouses. We have a 60 member CSA program and stands at 2 local farmers markets where we sell our produce as well as fresh sourdough breads and homemade prepared foods including granola, hummus, crackers, veggie burgers, salsa, pickles, pesto …etc. We also collect compostables from local restaurants to feed our 200 hens and provide renewable fertility for our fields. We welcome wwoofers year round and encourage 3 month internships, but also accept folks for shorter stays. There is always something going on here, and our house is bustling with projects, friends, good food, and our three young children. We work hard and expect that you will too. Jobs include all aspects of farming (greenhouse work, field prep, seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, going to market, food waste collection and chicken chores), construction projects (greenhouse/tunnel building) and kitchen work (commercial food prep, as well as lactic fermentation and canning). Current projects include building a brick oven and putting up a post and beam addition to our farmstand.
We take breaks from our work and swim in the pond. We try to have a lot of fun. We’ve got a beautiful sunny porch where we like to practice yoga. We also have a pottery studio and a woodworking shop. Our kitchen is strictly vegetarian; vegan diets are not a problem. We cook, eat (and wash dishes) communally. Accommodations are in our big old farmhouse, a cabin, a tree house and 2 campers. We offer farm manager and bread baker positions with a stipend each year, these require longer term commitment and prior experience. Contact us for more information.
