North Carolina: The Society of St. Andrew seeks two part-time Gleaning Coordinators

3 Mar

The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) is seeking 2 part-time Gleaning Coordinators (1 person to work in the Triad, NC area and 1 person to work in the Triangle, NC area).  Society of St. Andrew is a non-profit hunger relief organization that works with farmers and packinghouses to rescue fresh fruits and vegetables that may otherwise end up as waste.  With the help of our volunteers, we glean or salvage produce and distribute it to local feeding agencies.

Gleaning Coordinators will work to further the mission of SoSA in specific areas of the state.  These positions are supported through the NC Regional office and assume responsibilities for various aspects of SoSA’s ministry in their local area.  Work involves recruiting farmers to allow gleaning of their produce and volunteers to participate in gleaning events within an hour’s drive of the stated areas above. Gleaning Coordinators also speak to local groups and churches about the Gleaning Network and SoSA as needed.

Qualifications:

The Gleaning Coordinator should be a creative and highly motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.  Since these positions are established in locations away from the regional office, Gleaning Coordinators need to be “self-starters” in developing and carrying out program needs and objectives.  Some physical labor when leading gleaning events can be expected.  Travel throughout the Local Gleaning Network area should also be expected and access to a vehicle is required- employee will be reimbursed for mileage.  This is a year round, 15-hour per week position.

To apply, please submit a cover letter and a resume (be sure to specify whether you are interested in working in the Triad or Triangle area) to Kristy Nash via email at ncglean@endhunger.org or mail to P.O. Box 25081, Durham, NC  27702.
