Sea Breeze Farm is a unique,  “beyond organic”, pasture-based farm, producing fresh raw milk, lamb, pork, beef, poultry, eggs,  wine, and artisan charcuterie for the Seattle farmer’s markets, as well as our own retail butcher shop and restaurant on Vashon Island. (www.seabreezefarm.net) We are a dynamic, hard-working, enthusiastic group, and we’re looking to add another person to the Sea Breeze crew.

The Farm-to-Market position is full time (50-60 hours a week) and includes work on the farm and at weekly farmer’s markets. Starting wage is DOE.

On the farm, daily tasks include milking the cows twice daily and moving their pasture fence, feeding and watering all animals, moving the hoop coops for the meat birds, and constantly monitoring animal health and facility cleanliness. Some other regular tasks include: bottling milk, making deliveries/pick-ups in the city, picking up bread and pig slop, moving sheep/pig/chicken pasture fence, washing dishes, cleaning farm kitchen and other facilities, poultry slaughter and clean-up, bottling/racking/pressing wine, putting in hay, and generally helping to move feed/supplies/products from one place to another.

At the farmer’s markets, tasks include unloading and setting up refrigerated meat cases, tents, signage, and market booth, keeping market booth and food service area clean and organized at all times, providing enthusiastic and knowledgeable customer service, running a cash register and making proper change, and packing up the market set-up at the end of the day.

Both the farm and the markets are fast-paced, dynamic environments, where the ability to really hustle is imperative. Creative problem-solving, flexibility, good communication, attention to detail, and the ability to take initiative are also very important traits for this position.

This position requires physical stamina and the ability to lift at least 50lb comfortably. Farm work also requires long days (10-12 hours). Other requirements include:  working weekends and being able to have a flexible schedule when necessary, and good driving skills and the ability to drive a box truck with trailer (experience with a manual transmission is preferred). Previous experience with animals or farm work is preferred but not required.
