Washington State: Tilth Producers of Washington seeks Outreach Volunteer

Hours per week: Flexible, seasonal variation, some evenings and weekends

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and staff Tilth Producers display at special events:

o   National Organic Standards Board meetings, April 26-29, Seattle

o   Mother Earth Fair, June 4-5, Puyallup

o   Seattle Tilth Harvest Fair, September 12, Seattle

o   Tilth Producers of Washington annual conference, November 11-13, Yakima

  • Assist with research on strategic outreach opportunities
  • Maintain and improve Tilth Producers display boards
  • Photograph farms, farmers markets and farmers working in the field
  • Register attendees and attend ten Washington farm walks during the spring, summer and fall
  • Register attendees and attend Tilth Producers Annual Conference in Yakima, November 11-13
  • Assist with procurement of auction donations for November conference (fundraising event)
  • Coordinate and attend networking potlucks in Washington for organic farmers
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Washington Organic Week, mid-September, including “Forks Up for Farmers”, an organic cocktail contest
  • Deliver outreach materials (primarily Seattle area; some mailing preparation)
  • Write short articles reporting on events attended for website or journal

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to represent Tilth Producers of Washington in a professional manner
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Friendly, proactive and outgoing character
    • Demonstrated administrative ability; excellent follow through
    • Common sense
    • Computer skills: MS Office Suite required; InDesign, WordPress experience a plus
    • Graphic design skills for creating signage, display boards, fliers
      • Ability to work both independently and with teams
      • Ability to lift 50 pounds
        • Valid Washington drivers’ license, vehicle and insurance (mileage reimbursement available)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Photography skills
  • Familiarity with Washington organic agriculture issues
