Wisconsin: GrowSureEase seeks Summer Farm Intern

8 Apr
GrowSureEase is a start up farm/community food center located in Ripon, WI.  We are in the beginning stages of creating a farm and sales area that features our own diversified produce and other local producer’s products– including ice-cream, fruits, dairy, and grass fed poultry, pork and other proteins.  GrowSureEase (GSE) is currently planning approximately 3 acres of outdoor production and a large greenhouse with the intent of year round production.  We are working on developing a more comprehensive sales center for local producers.  The goal is to create local, fresh, sustainable food that is chemical free, tasty, and nutritious, while also educating the community about the benefits of supporting local production.

Position: Farm Intern

Responsibilities: To assist in everyday farm needs including planting, harvesting, composting, putting up structures, weeding, pest management, CSA, and sales staffing, while keeping a positive attitude and maintaining an inclusive environment.

Time Frame: Ideally through the summer with possible extension into fall and winter (We are willing to work with your schedule and timing needs, please contact us to discuss.)

  • Able to keep a positive attitude and sense of humor
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently
  • Desire to learn about sustainable agriculture, business operation, and community development
  • Dependable
  • Ability to perform demanding physical labor
  • Ready to work outdoors in all weather

GrowSureEase will provide training through hands-on participation and lessons in agriculture. No prior farm experience or knowledge is necessary, only a desire to learn.  We are willing to work with you and the university to make it feasible to receive credit for this experience (possibly through combining work with a report on an organic farming or greenhouse technique).  Housing is available as well as produce.

This is an unpaid position.

To Apply:

Please submit a letter of interest and your resume to Dennis Meyer at mjfred@dotnet.com and Kate Flick at kcflick@gmail.com, or call 920-203-1054.  Please include examples of experiences that demonstrate your ability to be a hard worker and why you believe GrowSureEase is an internship in which you would like to participate. Applications will be considered and offers will be made on a rolling basis.
