Delaware: The Delaware Center for Horticulture seeks Urban Agriculture Manager

The Delaware Center for Horticulture seeks full-time exempt Urban Agriculture Manager to coordinate and facilitate theDCH’s community gardening and agricultural projects.

Responsibilties: engage community members in revitalizing community green spaces; serve as educational resource for gardeners; coordinate educational opportunities for community gardeners, and offenders; implement urban agricultural projects such as an urban farm to address food security issues in lower income neighborhoods; serve as a resource for individuals and organizations interested in urban agricultural projects; help facilitate Urban Farm Coalition; coordinate and manage materials, equipment and seasonal staff as necessary;provide material and educational support for residents with sponsored container plantings.

Requirements: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and negotiating skills; Commitment to working with residents in urban neighborhoods and to serving various communities and constituencies, including offenders; Strong oral and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking; Experience in or desire to build community alliances and collaborations; Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with attention to detail; Proficiency with Microsoft Word;Valid driver’s license; access to reliable transportation during working hours;Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field;Gardening and community outreach experience;Knowledge of regional plant material helpful; Ability to load tools and plants weighing up to 50 pounds on and off trucks; ability to lift and drag a water hose weighing up to 50 pounds
