Massachusetts: Cricket Creek Farm seeks Farmers’ Market Worker

Cricket Creek Farm ( is a small dairy farm in Western MA.  We are a grass-based dairy and are milking 20 Brown Swiss and Jersey cows. We sell raw milk and make artisan cheese. Our mission at Cricket Creek Farm is to continue the tradition of the small family farm, and in doing so act as stewards of the land. We seek to raise healthy, content animals in an environmentally sustainable fashion, producing high-quality dairy products and serving as valuable members of our community.

We are looking for an employee based in the Cambridge/Boston area to manage several Farmers Markets for us from mid-May through November 2011.  The schedule will be 30 to 40 hours per week, including full days on Fri, Sat, Sun, and Tues.  We primarily sell artisan cheese at the markets, and supplement our cheese with other farm goods including meat and baked goods.  We hope to find someone who is passionate about food, and cheese in particular.  Interest in local food systems and supporting local farms is a plus.  We plan to ship or drive our goods to the Boston area each week and have our Market Manager retrieve the goods, take them to market and sell them.  Our Market Manager will have the opportunity to come out to the farm to see the milking and cheese-making process, which will better equip him/her to sell our products.
