About Common Good City Farm:
Common Good City Farm (formerly called the 7th Street Garden) is an urban farm and education center growing food for low-income residents in Washington, DC and providing educational opportunities for all people that help increase food security, improve health, and contribute to environmental sustainability. Our Mission is to grow food, educate, and help low-income DC community residents meet their food needs. Our Vision is to serve as a replicable model of a community-based urban food system. Common Good City Farm seeks a creative and dynamic Communications Fellow to join our growing organization.
The Communications Fellow will have the following responsibilities:
Database Management Duties:
Manage and maintain organization contacts
Redesign and organize database to improve data entry and records
Manage all communication through database- e-newsletters, email appeals and workshop sign-ups
Digital and Print Communications Duties:
Use social media to advance the organization’s mission and report on emerging trends and opportunities
Design all graphic print materials- program brochures, flyers etc.
Manage and maintain website updates and design
Manage online group visit and workshop sign-ups, Google check-out
Update Common Good’s videos and other media coverage
Experience and Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years experience studying or working in Communications
• Experience using Word, Excel, Photoshop, and web-updating software-HTML, Drupal
• Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills required
• Great interpersonal skills required to work in diverse and fast-paced work environment
• Friendly, outgoing demeanor
• Interest in non-profit and food systems work
• Ability to organize and maintain good records
