Pennsylvania: Fair Food seeks Branding Intern

Objective: Develop and execute a rebranding plan to increase recognition of Fair Food’s new website and logo. Refine and organize Fair’s Food’s contact database to improve communication with our constituents. 

Description: Originally a program with White Dog Community Enterprises, Fair Food spun off into an independent organization in 2009. As a result Fair Food has characteristics of both a well established and fledgling non-profit. Although many businesses and organizations in the Philadelphia area and nationwide are familiar with Fair Food’s work, not all recognize our new name or logo and many still link to our old website. 

Fair Food is seeking an intern to work a minimum of 20 hours per week from May – August 2011. The internship unpaid but interns do receive the employee discount at the Fair Food Farmstand in Reading Terminal Market.  
Start Date: May 15

End Date: August 12

Job Responsibilities: Working under the direction of Fair Food Program Associate, Annemarie Vaeni, the intern will perform the following tasks: Research and evaluate Fair Food’s current web presence; Communicate with Fair Food’s members, friends and partners, providing them with the updated logo and links; distribute Local Food Guides to members, businesses and, when appropriate, assist them in displaying the Guides with Fair Food/Buy Fresh Buy Local signage; Expand and reorganize Fair Food’s database. The intern may also be required to assist with the production of Fair Food’s weekly newsletter as well as perform general office tasks including data entry/management, copying, filing, faxing, mailings, and occasionally represent Fair Food at events and fairs.


  • Ability to self-direct
  • Experience in online communications
  • Strong writing skills and articulate phone manner
  • Extremely well-organized and detail oriented
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, database software, and social media / marketing tools
