Maine: Veggies For All seeks Intern

11 May

Veggies For All seeks a motivated, energetic intern to assist in all aspects on hunger relief work with a community development non-profit. Must have a willingness to learn, collaborate, and have a passion for community food security.  Good candidates will have experience with manual labor and communications, especially related to sustainable agriculture, community organizing, and hunger relief.  This intern will be asked to contribute to farm tasks and organizational/administrative duties that support our mission.  Projects the intern may contribute to include: Community Meals program, school gardens, demonstration gardens, organization of gardener-donated produce, and assistance to food pantry programming.

Veggies For All, a project of the Unity Barn Raisers, is a community agriculture project that works to relieve hunger by growing vegetables for those in need, while collaborating with partners to distribute and increase access to quality and nutritious food.

Unity Barn Raisers works pro-actively to enhance small-town character and rural environment, while nurturing a thriving community-based economy. UBR, which is guided by ten ³Underlying Principles², believes that a community working together can shape its own future, and in so doing, significantly advance the quality of life of its people, both now and for generations to come.
