Texas: World Hunger Relief, Inc. seeks Interns

16 May

World Hunger Relief, Inc. is a Christian organization committed to the alleviation of hunger around the world. We are a training and working farm, offering internship opportunities, as well as live-in volunteer opportunities.

WHRI trains individuals who feel called to service in developing countries and wish to acquire skills in sustainable farming, community development and Christian missions. Interns work and study for one year on our 40-acre farm in central Texas, followed by an optional three-month experience in a developing country.  The WHRI farm produces organic vegetables, milk, eggs, meat, and organic pecans for sale in the local market. Interns are, therefore, involved in all aspects of running a working farm (planning, production, research, marketing, etc.). We try as much as possible to utilize production techniques appropriate to developing-world settings. In addition to farm work, interns are involved in leading school tours, teaching classes, and speaking to church and community groups.

Live-in Volunteers provide 25 hours of work in return for housing and basic food staples. Live-in Volunteers are an important part of our community, they are encouraged to participate in all aspects of farm life, including devotions, class time, and field trips. Length of stay for Live-in Volunteers can range from two weeks to over a year. WHRI accepts Live-in Volunteers on a competitive basis as space becomes available.

Applications to both programs can be found on our website: http://worldhungerrelief.org.

Inquiries about the internship and LIV programs can be directed via email to: educationcoordinator@worldhungerrelief.org.
