North Carolina: Edible Schoolyard Greensboro seeks Director

The Director is responsible for the leadership, development, and supervision of the ESY program as it relates to Edible Schoolyard National’s (Chez Panisse Foundation) guiding principles and standards. The Director serves as the public face and chief representative of ESY to the media, at conferences and other events. The Director is a member of the Museum leadership team working closely with Fundraising, Marketing, Education and Operation to ensure ESY is integral to the business of the Museum. The Director reports to the Greensboro Children’s Museum CEO.
Roles and Responsibilities
Staff Supervision
• Build a healthy, energetic and effective ESY team
• Responsible for implementation, supervision and evaluation of the goals and objectives of the Museum Strategic Plan
• Supervise all ESY staff, interns, and AmeriCorps members including conducting employee reviews, updating job descriptions and human resource materials
• Supervise volunteers including recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and files
• Coordinate weekly ESY staff meetings, ensure weekly individual reports are filed as well as monthly team reports.
Program Development & Management
• Develop materials that integrate the principles of Edible Education into core academic subjects
• Work in collaboration with ESY and Museum staff on the integration of ESY and Museum programs
• Work to develop program replication tools for distribution to a national audience
Outreach and Community/School Relations
• Manage and implement garden/kitchen class schedule in tandem with Museum staff
• Act as liaison and facilitate communications between ESY and Museum staff
• Coordinate and lead tours
• Manage and coordinate events and activities, as well as outreach materials, pertaining to: special classes, summer camps, community events, public offerings, and volunteer work days
• Ensure ESY website, social media and all communications are current
• Represent ESY at conferences and workshops
• Collaborate with Museum staff on media interviews and special tours
• Create public relations and outreach materials with Museum marketing
Fundraising and Finance
• Collaborate with Fundraising staff on fundraising, including, but not limited to, grant writing, event planning, and donor cultivation
• Develop and manage ESY program budget annually and review with CEO and CFO quarterly
• Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
• Strong team leadership skills
• Strong understanding of children’s museums and experience with curriculum, lesson plan development and implementation
• Teaching experience – children’s museum experience preferred
• Demonstrated success in non-profit and staff supervision
• Experience in fundraising
• Sincere passion for work in environmental education and Edible Education
• Strong collaborative expertise
• Demonstrated creative problem solving skills
• Honesty, integrity, and humility
• Ability to work and multi-task within a Museum environment
