Costa Rica: Finca Luna Nueva seeks Intern

11 Jun

We currently are searching for an individual to fill a farm intern position at Finca Luna Nueva.  Located near the Arenal Volcano in northern Costa Rica, this farm focuses on growing ginger and turmeric on rotating plots of our agriculture land. The herbs are used for the production of organic whole food supplements for the company New Chapter. Bordering Costa Rica’s Bosque Eterno de los Ninos, the Finca encompasses both primary and secondary forest with hiking trails and habitat walks for those interested in learning more about rainforest ecosystems.  The Sacred Seeds Sanctuary, a botanical garden for more than 300 tropical plants threatened with extinction. We are also a member of the Costa Rica Slow Food movement and hold events and dinners blessing the preservation of food culture.

As a biodynamic farm we support diversity in many ways. Besides animals, the farm is an ecotourism spot for those interested in tropical biology, medicinal plants, permaculture and sustainable cultivation of food.   We are interested in inviting someone who has a background in biodynamic farming philosophy and practice to join our team to share knowledge and support the strengthening of our evolving sustainable practice. It is also advantageous to have proficient Spanish, as all farm workers communicate mostly in this language. Eight hour a day labor would be requested of the individual in exchange for a bed in our on-site intern house and provided with all meals.  In addition, the individual will have access to all knowledge and other educational happenings on this 207 acre eco-lodge and farm. We are interested in someone fulfilling this position for a three-six month time period beginning 15 of July.  This position is available all year long with minimum of three month stays.
