DC: Love & Carrots seeks Interns

9 Jul
We are two long term DC residents, Meredith and Saren, who have just initiated a home organic gardening company based out of Bloomingdale. Its called Love & Carrots, and our goal is to expand the local food movement into residential backyards, thereby getting more people to experience the benefits of home grown.
We offer custom organic garden design, installation, and maintenance services–  but that only underlies a new, unique and more hands on approach to gardening services that is intended to making home gardening as “un-overwhelming” and “un-intimidating” as possible.  Additionally, we teach gardening basics to adults and kids, provide services like harvesting if customers are away, and to top it off, we’ll preserve/can your extra garden produce for healthy eating all winter!
Here’s a website you can check out:
LoveandCarrots.com

You’ll see on the website that we are putting in a pro-bono garden for Cardozo High School to kick things off.

Currently looking for the following part-time, unpaid internship positions:

Garden Interns
We need extra hands for installation and maintenance. Experience in farming and/or gardening is preferred. Having your own transportation is a plus (and pickup trucks are bonus!). Applicants must be capable of strenuous labor in DC summer heat.
Administrative Interns
The administrative intern will be a key part in the workings of Love & Carrots. This position entails a mix of administrative and resourcing tasks. Must be efficient, able to manage your time wisely, and communicate effectively. Also, you must have your own computer with Microsoft Excel. Experience with Excel is essential. On the plus side, you can work from home!
