The Nassau Land Trust seeks a Farmer

The Nassau Land Trust is seeking a farmer to operate an organic educational farm at the former Grossmann Farm in Malverne, NY, a few miles outside of Queens on Long Island.  The property consists of 4.5 +/- acres of arable farmland surrounded by a dense suburban neighborhood and adjacent to the Malverne Long Island Rail Road Station and downtown Malverne.  Historically, vegetables and flowers were grown on the Grossmann Farm and regional farms were sold direct to local consumers.  The property is being purchased by Nassau County to be preserved as agricultural land and overseen by the Nassau Land Trust.  Great potential for a vegetable farmer interested in establishing his/her own CSA and/or farm stand.  Continue reading

Cure Organic Farm is seeking an experienced farmer to join us as our Crew Leader beginning March 2010. This is a great position for someone who has completed an internship position and is looking for more experience leading a field crew in all aspects of running a commercial small vegetable farm. The position requires experience in organic vegetable production, tractor operation, fieldwork, animal care, excellent communication. Dedication, self-motivation, a strong work ethic, leadership skills and a rock-solid good attitude are also necessary. Sustainable Opportunities for Universal Learning (SOUL) seeks Several Positions

SOUL is a Regional Outreach Training Center for Growing Power along the Underground Railroad in Montgomery County, Maryland. Our mission is to Connect, Educate and Nourish communities. We have a 10 acre farm that will have hoop houses with aquaponics where we will grow food and teach others to do so. We have access to a commercial kitchen where we will teach canning, dehydrating and other simple food preservation techniques. We also teach food growing, prep, cooking and storage. Our initiative is to ban High Fructose Corn Syrup from the food stream in hopes that crops grown in this country will actually be healthy and nutritious and will be grown with an eye towards sustainability.

We are currently looking for farmers, a volunteer coordinator, a cooking teacher, and a grant writer.
