Roots of Change seeks an Administrative Coordinator

Location: San Francisco, California

This is a 19-hour a week position without benefits. The position is scheduled to last at least 6 months and may evolve into full time.

Roots of Change (ROC)
is a non-profit organization working to create a sustainable food system in California by the year 2030. We want every aspect of our food, from the time it’s grown to the time it’s eaten, to be healthy for consumers and the planet, and profitable and fair for those who grow it. ROC’s role is to connect and support the people and parts within the system that have the knowledge, roles, relationships and commitments required to successfully manage a rapid transformation.

The primary focus of the Administrative Coordinator is to support the Operations Director by updating budgets and schedules. Another key component of the work is to review and track invoices and communicate with contractors to ensure a smooth payment system. In addition the Administrative Coordinator will coordinate the logistics needs of ROC’s office. This position supports the work of ROC’s other staff as needed and reports to the Director of Operations. Continue reading

Classroom in Bloom seeks to fill Several Positions

Location: Winthrop, Washington

Classroom in Bloom is a 1/2 acre vegetable and native plant garden on the shared campus of Liberty Bell High School and Methow Valley Elementary School in the Methow Valley School District.  We are looking for applicants with previous experience gardening and teaching kids.  Applicants must have energy to teach all day in a fast paced garden setting and be excited to teach and learn about the life cycle from soil to food.

The Regional Environmental Council, Inc. (REC) seeks a School Gardens Project Assistant

Duration: Temporary, March to October 2010

Hours: 10 hours per week. During the months of April and May, some additional hours will be required.

Wage: $11-$15 per hour, based on experience

The Regional Environmental Council, Inc. (REC), a grassroots, nonprofit, environmental justice organization with a 38-year history of working for environmental sustainability and social justice, is seeking candidates for our School Gardens Project Assistant. This part-time, temporary position will be responsible for supporting the Worcester School Garden Initiative, a collaborative effort between the REC’s Food Justice Program and the Worcester Advisory Food Policy Council’s Hunger-Free & Healthy Project. The School Director reports to the Organizational Director and works in close collaboration with the faculty to support the pedagogical vision and curriculum of Sunfield Waldorf School. The School Director provides strategic leadership, operational accountability, business oversight
for all school functions and activities, and general supervision of all administrative tasks and personnel functions (including paid school staff and volunteers), while maintaining relationships with school families and supporters.
