World Hunger Year (WHY) is a leading advocate for innovative, community-based solutions to hunger and poverty. WHY challenges society to confront these problems by advancing models that create self-reliance, economic justice, and equal access to nutritious and affordable food.
The National Hunger Clearinghouse (NHC) collects, stores and facilitates exchange of information in the nation’s only centralized database of organizations working on food, nutrition, agriculture, and poverty issues. NHC hosts and manages the National Hunger Hotline which provides thousands of callers struggling to feed their families with information about community-based resources and government programs to help them meet both short-term needs and long-term self-reliance. NHC advocates for progressive policies to end hunger and promote better nutrition by promoting the work of innovative community based emergency food programs and developing strategic partnerships with organizations and agencies promoting a healthy, just and sustainable food system.
