New York Sun Works promotes Urban Sustainability through Science + Education. NY Sun Works is currently constructed two greenhouse classrooms in NYC-one in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn. The greenhouse classroom is comprised of an entire hydroponic farm based on the model farm NY Sun Works constructed in the Science Barge.
The Role
NY Sun Works is seeking to hire a an assistant to the Director of Ecological Design and engineering staff to support the construction and development of two greenhouse classroom projects in NYC. Construction duties will involve but are not limited to basic carpentry, plumbing, metal and plastic work regarding greenhouse structures, hydroponic and aquaponic growing systems.
Job Qualifications
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable applicant with experience in Construction and Ecological and/or Green building, construction techniques, urban agriculture and environmental sustainability.
Education in environmental engineering, environmental science, sustainable agriculture or similar background preferred.
Construction and technical / mechanical/design experience in Hydroponic growth systems preferred.
Minimum 2 years verified construction experience needed .
Minimum 2 years experience in urban agriculture, farming, and/or plant sciences.
