Boston: The Student Conservation Association seeks Interns

This year SCA is offering a new sustainability program to host interns who can live locally in Boston for the summer and serve at an internship focused on some aspect of sustainability.

The interns are required to have local housing and will receive a $250 subsistence allowance to help with general living expenses and commuting costs. The interns are also eligible for AmeriCorps Education Awards upon completion of service that can be used towards future education or current loans. The award amount varies depending on number of hours served. Most positions are 10-11 weeks in length, but some are as long as a year.

We are seeking a part-time, experienced Chef to lead our afternoon and evening cooking classes in our commercial kitchen in Roxbury, MA. Classes may be for children, teenagers or adults and focus on eating whole foods and cooking from scratch while empowering students from the inner city with information about food justice. Massachusetts: Roslindale Farmers’ Market seeks Manager

The Farmers’ Market Manager is responsible for the weekly operations of the Roslindale Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.  The position runs for the duration of the market season (June 5 through October 30) with two weeks prior to market opening for training and preparation work and  one week post-season for wrap-up and evaluation.  The position is 13 hours weekly, approximately 8 hours on Saturdays and 5 hours during the week.

The Market Manager is the “go-to” person for vendors and consumers during market hours, and is the Roslindale Village Main Street (RVMS) representative on-site.  The job requires personal confidence and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people.  RVMS relies on the market manager to be its liaison with and between all parties served by the market.  The manager is required to be on-site at market and available to vendors and consumers the majority of the time. White Barn Farm seeks Farm Worker

White Barn Farm is a diversified vegetable farm located on our family’s land in Wrentham, MA.  We are 45 min south of Boston and 30 min north of Providence.  This is our third year growing vegetables and flowers commercially. Our markets include: a 60-member CSA, our Roadside Stand (3 times a week), and Restaurants in Providence.  We have over 4 acres in production and manage the farm using organic methods, although we are not certified.  The farm is run by Christy Raymond, 30, and Chris Kantlehner, 27. We have harvest help each CSA pick-up day from “work-for-shares” that come each week in exchange for a CSA share, and we plan on finding some part-time help to harvest a couple afternoons a week (a couple local high school kids).
